Digital rice cooker GrandCHEF
BEFORE FIRST USE Place the rice cooker on a flat surface. Use a pad to protect the countertop from moisture. Press the white button on the lid to open the lid. Remove the rice measuring cup, steaming dish, power cord, and cooking pot from the rice cooker. Wash the measuring cup, dish, and cooking pot, then dry thoroughly. Notice: The appliance may smell slightly during first use as a result of the heating elements being heated for the first time. This is normal and will not occur in further use. When preparing food with high water content, moisture from condensed steam may collect underneath the appliance – this is why placing it on a mat is recommended. This is a normal feature of the appliance and not a defect. FILLING THE COOKING POT Always fill the cooking pot separately from the appliance. Insert it only after filling, ensuring the rice cooker is disconnected from the power supply. Spread the rice or other food evenly across the bottom. Before inserting the cooking pot into the rice cooker, ensure the outside of the rice cooker is clean and dry. For the White Rice and Whole Grain Rice programmes, place 1 to 6 measuring cups of dry rice into the cooking pot (1). Then, add water up to the corresponding mark on the right side of the scale (cup), matching the number of measuring cups you added (2). The maximum permissible amount of 6 measuring cups corresponds to about 900 g dry rice.
Notice: When cooking jasmine rice, add about half a mark less water than you would for other types of white rice.
For the Meat Meals programme, fill the cooking pot up to – but not above – the top mark on the scale.
For the Porridge and Cakes programmes, as well as for meals that tend to swell when heated, fill the cooking pot to no more than half its volume.
For the Steaming programme, add no more than 500 ml of water to the cooking pot, depending on the type of food.
Place the cooking pot filled with ingredients into the rice cooker and close the lid.
SWITCHING ON THE RICE COOKER Connect the power cord to the connector on the rice cooker (3), then plug the other end into a 230 V power outlet. The rice cooker will turn on, and the control panel will light up. Notice: Do not operate the rice cooker without the cooking pot inserted or when the pot is empty. Do not use the cooking pot to prepare food outside the rice cooker. PROGRAMME SELECTION After switching on the rice cooker, the control panel will display the main menu for Programme Selection (4). In this menu, the White Rice programme is preselected, with a cooking time of 30 minutes. The indicator lamp assigned to this programme is flashing.
To select another programme, repeatedly touch the Menu button until the indicator lamp for that programme starts flashing.
LAUNCHING A PROGRAMME Launch your desired programme by pressing the Start button. An audible signal will sound, the indicator lamps for other programmes will turn off, and the indicator lamp for the selected programme will remain steadily lit. The display will show a moving dashed line (5), indicating that the rice cooker is heating up to operating temperature. After reaching the operating temperature, the display will show the cooking time in minutes, and the food preparation in the selected programme will start automatically. The display will show the remaining cooking time, and a small amount of steam will escape from the valve in the lid. After the cooking time has elapsed, an intermittent audible signal will sound, the programme will end automatically, and the Keep Warm will be activated.
