Safety instructions Use this machine only for the purpose for which it is intended in accordance with these instructions. To protect against the risk of electric shock, do not place the power cord, plug or the unit in water or any other liquid. Do not let power cords hang over the edge of the table or countertop, keep them away from hot surfaces. To disconnect the electric sharpener, wait until the engine stops and then unplug the power cord from the electric socket. If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service technician, or by another person authorised by the manufacturer. Do not use the sharpener if damaged. Keep the machine and its power cord away from the reach of children, do not allow children to use themachine. Thismachine is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the machine and understand the risks involved. Keep a close eye on the sharpener and do not leave it unattended while in use! Never use the machine if it is not working properly. Before cleaning and after use, switch off and disconnect the machine from the grid by pulling the power cord plug from the socket. The machine is intended for domestic use only. Do not use the sharpener if the sharpening wheels have been damaged or have visible cracks or ruptures. Long hair, loose clothing, accessories and jewellery can be caught by the rotating parts of the machi- ne. Confine hair, clothing and accessories to avoid the risk of them coming near the rotating parts. To avoid injury, handle knives with care both before sharpening and when sharpened. Make sure that only the cutting edge of the knife comes into contact with the sharpening wheels. Never place fingers into the slit with sharpening wheels. Do not use the sharpener for ceramic knives and knives with serrated or saw-toothed edge, scissors, chisels, axes and other tools! WARNING: There is a risk of injury when using the appliance at variance with the Instructions for use. The manufacturer assumes no liability for damage and injury (cutting and other wounds) due to improper use of the machine and assumes no liability under the warranty for the product in case of failure to observe the above safety instructions.
